What a great fucking week

Oh man, I certainly hope this is a trend. Had a fantastic week. Let me outline the days:

Monday starts the week with poetry giddiness
Mark Doty, it's funny how easily you write off poetry until you experience it again, especially by such an incredible master. Makes me want to check out what Louder ARTs is up to every week. Literary soul, up 3 points.

Tuesday is all business
More clerical, updated job search profiles and polished my "professional" persona. It was refreshing to see where I've been and what I'm doing now in light of recent frustrations. Worker bee happiness, up 2 points.

Wednesday, "daddy's little reward" (thank you Tom Hanks)
The iPad was unveiled, and after work steakhouse, meaning single malt scotch (Glenfiddich 12 yr) and and a very big sirloin. Delish. Got carry home cake too to share with sweetie. Tastebuds' delight, up 4 points.

Thursday really is the over-rated Friday
Lazy and in bed, thank you. Sanity, up 2 points.

Friday means we dance, dance, dance
Saw the incredibly sexy LolaDean and AfroTitty perform at open drag night. Too hot. Also saw one boi I met last summer was pseudo "poly" at the time. That is "poly until commited," a title of similar distaste to "straight edge until 21." As in, it ain't really poly. Still, some other damn cute bois to look at between acts and during the dance party. Eye candy stimulation, up 2 points.

Saturday is for sailor sex
Sex party, poly cherry finally popped as I'm turned out like a faggot by sailor bois, oh my. Also, more scotch love and party pick for a certain contest. Amazing. Faggotry, up 6 points.

Sundays are meant to be lazy
Sleeeeeeep, and care-taking, and Essex brunch with 5+ mimosas, and lazy TV watching. Tudors' catchup, up 2 episodes.

This week's News Scorecard

iPad__ Super excited for this, want one for writing, drawing, reading, and will change so many industries....thinking the only disappointment here is how mundane and obvious this device can fit into everything and anything. Outside of gaming, e-readers and browsing, think how this could replace something as ubiquitous as the clipboard or pen/paper.

SOTU__ Obama's a centrist, and how I feel about that depends on the side of the bed I get up on. I do know bowing to the naysayers has to stop, and that claim during the address enlivened me a bit. Overall, the grand scheme of what you say your'e going to do, and what you strive to do in the sphere of reality of obstacles, he's done so much, and in sum, I'm proud of this past year.

SOTU sidenote__ Obama promises to double US exports in 5 years, whoa.

Rutgers suspends Sorority over hyper-hazing - Fucking shameful, that's all: http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/01/29/sorority.hazing/

Prop 8 trial__ Coming to a close shortly, and this trial carries for me more weight than the actual referendum. Why? Legal precedence. This extends outside of the marriage debate because of the "defense's" approach of demonizing gay sexuality - there's a soft implication of the fate of sex-positivity here. Resources drained by HRC and mis-focuses aside, the trial matters. So yes, heteronormative-touting/class-blindness/misdirected-resources aside, the positivty for this trial makes my day a little bit rosier for now.

Uganda__ Rachel Maddow's coverage of this is a drag, and scary, but I'm glad it's still top of mind. Like, what the hell?

Haiti__ I can't even say anything about this, just God Bless those who are helping and there.

Conan__ My previous post touched on this. I'm clearly Team Coco, and I look forward to wherever he lands next.

Conan May Save my Life

There's been a week-plus long dispute over Conan getting the boot for the Tonight Show. Jay Leno sucks, though remains relevant to the vanilla dogshit advertisers need to disseminate their mind control, and I'm reconciling being pissed about this. There's a loyalty I have for Conan, despite the fact that he's been made a filthy rich(er) bastard by it, because there's s greater crime against humor, art and expression. But the truth is Conan doesn't belong on that damn show, and I wasn't watching it already for a reason.

That mainstream world will not reconcile with subversion, and it's time I put a stake in the ground on where I am. Dancing between my personal life and my work life has led to a watering down of both the past few years, and there's something about that that's come to light when I reflect on the Conan situation. It's the same reflection that elucidates this damned writer's block I've maintained since graduation. I've lost the grit, the raw angst that matures from teenager woes into an edgy creator. I've been too damn angry, too damn starved for wealth and comfort.

It is time, dear reader if you're out there, to hear my proclamation: I am a creature of the night and darkness. I mean this by no melodramatic impulse, but by the simple fact that there's the world unaware and complacent, and the counter-world willing to push, and draw out, and dig into the parts of the human experience Carl Jung fancied. I'm done with my bullshit shyness of it, with the caveats and the compromises. I am queer, and a novice pagan, and a stone radical. I will forever love punk music, my hands dream of drums, and my gender-ambivalence continues to drive my lust and confusion. I'm sick of filters, and worried about who the fuck you are. The "idea" of a blog has sickened me for months so I've produced nothing, when really I have nothing but honesty to display. Bear with me if you will as this experiment finally is underway.
